The Rongai Route is the only trail that approaches Mount Kilimanjaro from the northern side hence it is also known as Nothern Approach Route, near the Kenyan border. It is known for being less crowded, making it an excellent choice for climbers seeking a more peaceful and remote trekking experience. Despite its relative solitude, the Rongai Route offers stunning views, diverse landscapes, and a gradual ascent, making it one of the easier routes in terms of acclimatization. This route takes 6 to 8 days to complete, increasing summit success rates by allowing better acclimatization. The descent is made via the Marangu Route on the mountain’s southeastern side.
