The flight of the balloon safari serengeti lasts for 1-1,5 hour (depending on the weather) and starts at sunrise.
This means an early departure from your lodge at around 4:45 am. After the hot-air balloon safari, a champagne bush breakfast will be waiting for you to make the experience even more unique than it already is. Each trip is guided by a licensed pilot and big team to handle the preparations of the hot-air balloon.
Note that children are permitted from age seven and above.

Best time to do the Ballon Safari in Serengeti

The dry season (June to October) is the ideal time for a hot-air balloon safari in the Serengeti. During the rainy months (March, April & May), some balloon rides are still available, but the actual flight is more dependent on weather conditions. During heavy rains and/or winds the balloon unfortunately can’t take off. In this case the flight will be cancelled and your payment will be fully refunded or reschuled to another day if your trip-itinerary allows it.

The price of the balloon safari costs around 550 USD. The ride, transfers and champagne bush breakfast after the landing are all included in the price. There are options for vegetarian’s available. It surely is not cheap, but its definately worth it. The balloon ride is great for special events like honeymoons, birthdays, other celebrations or just because it’s simply amazing. *The balloon safari serengeti is done as an activity in a complete itinerary and can’t be done seperately as the flight takes place in Serengeti National Park.

Balloon Safari Itinerary

⏰ 4:30 – 5:00 AM: Hotel Pick-Up

Guests are picked up from their lodge/camp and transferred to the launch site.

🕔 5:30 AM: Balloon Inflation & Safety Briefing

Witness the balloon being inflated while enjoying a warm drink. The pilot provides a safety briefing before takeoff

🕕 6:00 AM: Takeoff & Sunrise Flight

As the sun rises, enjoy a 60-minute flight over the Serengeti. Spot wildlife from above, including predators and grazing animals. The pilot adjusts altitude for different views, sometimes flying low over herds.

🕖 7:00 AM: Landing & Celebration

Upon landing, enjoy a traditional champagne toast, a long-standing ballooning tradition.

🕗 7:30 AM: Bush Breakfast

A delicious full English breakfast is served in the wilderness under an acacia tree. Enjoy fresh fruit, pastries, eggs, coffee, and more while soaking in the Serengeti views.

🕘 8:30 – 9:00 AM: Return to Lodge or Continue Game Drive

Guests are transferred back to their lodge or join their safari game drive.
